Learning to fall and catch myself
Learning to fall and catch myself
When I get dizzy, I no longer panic the way I used to
This may sound weird, but I am learning to fall properly. I am an academic and have never worked out in my life. In school I worked hard to rise to the position I am at work. I do a ton of business meetings and have respect around my peers. Unfortunately healthwise I am not so good. I have a lot of heart issues that causes shortness of breath and occasionally I have dizziness. Due to this, I fall over a lot. I have fallen and broken my nose, leg and even punctured a lung before. My husband is a big time fitness guy and is just appalled that I have done this. The two of us are now practicing falling. He is a personal trainer at a local fitness center. The two of us have now been working together everyday after I get done from work. He is working on toning my legs and middle section. Also, he wants me to build upper body strength. We have been working slowly to where I can fall and catch myself in a pushup position. A lot of the drills are him knocking me off balance and me catching myself in smart, good ways. I think he might be enjoying those drills a little too much if you ask me. I will say though, I have noticed a difference. I now feel way more confident with grabbing onto something or holding my own body weight. When I get dizzy, I no longer panic the way I used to. My goal is to be able to straight fall and catch my entire body weight with my hands. We will see though.
