Where has this past year gone? We are moving quickly toward 2023, and before long I will be arranging my return trip to my home country for the winter holidays. I’m excited to return home. To spend more time with both my family and friends, I will return for two months this winter. When you return home after a significant absence, it really makes you reflect on time as well as life. Simply put, I feel like life is moving too quickly for me right now, that everyone is wealthier and busier than I’ve ever wanted to be, and that the pace of life is just too fast. For me, heating and cooling system maintenance are more of a part-time job than a demanding full-time job like most of my friends has. They appear to be married to their jobs and find little time for other activities until they reach the enchanted age of 65. Although I wouldn’t want to work full-time because it would interfere with the fun I am having doing the things I really care about, I don’t mind the work. I enjoy occasionally cleaning the ducts, but there is no way you could convince me to devote all of my time to heating and air conditioning repairs while neglecting my interests in music and extracurricular activities. In my opinion, having fun should come before work.
