I couldn’t believe how easy it was for me when I was a young kid in high school. I worked in an electronics store for the summer, and I usually worked every other weekday. In that time, new laptops were still a totally new thing to the market. Retailing at over two grand for laptops that weren’t even rated for gaming, a laptop was an expensive purchase! Every week, we all had these unusual sales drives. One time, we had a contest to see who could sell more of this special stereo on a typical Wednesday. Another time, we tried to sell as many flat screen TVs as we could! At that same time, Epson printers were a huge deal to get, as they had a special bonus for most of the summer. Back then, selling an Epson printer with any laptop purchase meant you would receive a $50 Visa gift card! My co-workers and I were trying to push Epson printers to virtually everyone that walked through the door. We still had to get them to purchase a laptop to gain the Visa gift card, but a whole bunch of those folks were there to purchase a laptop anyways! It didn’t take too much extra work just to have them hooked to the idea of buying an Epson printer. While they were some of the first to offer multi-stage printing and a variety of inkjet colors, it was actually straight-forward to sell the printers! I made a lot of extra currency that Summer, and I miss that job like crazy.
