He thought that it would be a simple transition from having his career in the electronics department of his building to having his career in the IT department. He is a smart man, but he has no idea what to do with a Smart Building. After learning about the position opening, he came modern home with a sizable book of information to help him understand the modern office building. He needed to know all about building automation and how the smart building conforms to modern needs. He had to learn on IoT security and even what IoT means. He had never heard of IoT until this opportunity for a different career path opened up. I had to laugh when he sat in his laptop room and started hollering out to me in the kitchen about the cloud. He couldn’t figure out why anyone would store anything in this imaginary cloud. After about three afternoons, he calmed down and the cloud system began to be more understandable. He watched online videos on energy efficiency projects to help keep workplaces energy smart. The Smart Building was an unknown thing to him when he first started looking at the books, however now he was becoming more comfortable with the concepts. He loved learns about the IoT building controls and IoT security. Thanks to everything he has been researching and learning about, with regard to IoT security and energy efficiency projects, he is sharing his new understanding with me. He wants myself and others to no longer use Alexa and do away with the Smart Thermostat. He is also setting up a list of little simple jobs for both of us so both of us can make our modern home more energy efficient. Next week, he has an appointment with the manager to find out if he has earned the job in the IT area. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
