When I finished my time in college, I felt it was time for me to open my first business – a vape supply. It was a great business model back in college, so it should work here too, right? Well, I was the first shop of my kind in town – and that wasn’t a good thing. I didn’t have my first customer for over a week, despite my “open” sign flashing all day! No foot traffic really hurt me on that one, but much of my problem and lack of sales had stemmed from the detestment people in town felt towards me. People though I sold weed paraphernalia or other drugs, as hilarious as that sounds. If our state would just legalize marijuana soon, we didn’t have to worry about this! Besides, I was willing to keep selling vaping accessories until that time came. With my college town in mind, that was a place where vape shops were residing at every corner! Some of them sell water pipes and bongs, while others sell vape accessories and other flavored juices. Hiring a printing and advertising company was a pain too, as many local ones refused my request! Most just said that they didn’t work with companies like mine. How ridiculous is that? I didn’t understand exactly what that meant anyway. But, a few weeks later, I finally saw how literally everyone in the neighborhood thought I was a “blight”. Fortunately for me, I was able to get an online website hired to make the graphic banners, advertisements and so forth for me to distribute. It was totally worth the money – not just to advertise, but to stick it to the people in my town who were getting bent out of shape over this.
