Whenever I change the air filter in my house, I always end up thinking about my dad. My dad was one of those guys who always wanted me to learn how to do everything. He would always teach me everything that he was doing, whether it was from working on the car, changing the oil, changing a light bulb, or changing the air filters in our house. I loved that about my dad! He wanted me to know everything that there was to know about home repairs, car repairs, and appliance repairs. He taught me everything even though I was a girl. He told me that he wanted me to always be able to take care of myself so that I would never need to depend on a man if I didn’t want to. My dad was always very forward thinking, even way back then. I’m so glad that he was like that, because now, I can fix just about anything around my house. The other day my central air conditioning system tore up and my friend who was here told me that I would have to call the HVAC company to come and fix it. She was very shocked when I went to the garage and got out my tool box so that I could fix the central air conditioning system myself. There is no way of knowing how much money I have saved over the years because my dad taught me to fix everything from a spark plug to an HVAC system. I will always be grateful for that.
