New office in old building with old HVAC
New office in old building with old HVAC
For many years my company has been talking about expanding.
They have been dead set on acquiring another facility and spreading our operations across the city.
They believed that they could make a lot of extra money if they had a retail space on the west side rather than relying on all of their business in the center of the bustling metropolitan area. I don’t disagree with their planning… But I wish that they were more reasonable with the follow-through. You see, my company ultimately wound up acquiring an old building that we now have to work in. The problem is, the indoor air quality is absolutely horrendous. The building that they are utilizing has an ancient Commercial heating, cooling, and air quality control system that is supposed to supply high-quality indoor air throughout the entire 20,000 foot space. Unfortunately, the Commercial heating, cooling, and ventilation units are clearly older than I am. They do not provide accurate or efficient indoor air quality to a single part of the building. As you walk through the large space you notice fluctuating hot and cold patches in every room. The air always smells like something is burning or growing inside of the ductwork. Worst of all, you can’t really rely on the heating or cooling system to operate in a consistent and energy efficient manner. Some days the air conditioning unit and forced air furnace work, and some days they do not. When my company said they wanted to expand, they should have set aside money for a working HVAC system.
