Now that my children are older, I’ve been attempting to teach them more in depth house responsibilities.

They’re still required to do basic chores like load the dishwasher, take out the trash, and mop the floors. However, I’m also starting to teach them the fundamentals of Heating and Air Conditioning repair and lawn care too. When I was their age, I wasn’t prepared to handle these house responsibilities and it took me a long time to understand them. I didn’t want the same for my kids. To improve their Heating and Air Conditioning repair, I’ve asked my kids to start replacing the air filters, clear out the weeds around the condenser unit, and sporadically I have them schedule the Heating and Air Conditioning tune ups. In doing this, I’m hopeful that they’ll have a better understanding of what keeps the heat and air in our home running. I’ve also attempted to teach them about our temperature control and how the temperature of our home affects our monthly energy consumption. My kids have always been particular about the temperature of our home, so one month, I let them control the temperature all day and evening however there was a catch. They had to pay that month’s utility bill. They were shocked to see the price of that bill, although I wasn’t. I showed them previous energy costs and how much lower they were due to my particular temperature control settings. This was one of my best lessons, because they suddenly learned about energy usage. I never heard them complain about the temperature of our home again and I’m sure they’ll carry this Heating and Air Conditioning knowledge into their own homes one day.
