As the sun beats down on me, I can’t help but be thankful for the comfort of my the air conditioning in my home.

Today, the guys and I were working on some road pavements that needed to be fixed after a long winter.

We get paid very well but sometimes this heat is unbearable and we need to take many breaks in our trucks. Today, it was a bit different. My air conditioning broke in my truck so there was nowhere to escape the heat. I would sit in one of my colleague’s trucks but they don’t take care of their trucks. They are supposed to be clean but there is clutter and old food wrappers in their passenger seats. I just don’t want to take the chance of getting sauce or whatever on my pants sitting in their trucks. I brought plenty of cold water but as the morning went on that really wasn’t cold anymore. It was going to be a long day and the only saving grace I had was lunch. Lunch was something I was looking forward to. I really wasn’t extremely hungry but I needed the air conditioning to cool down my body. Lunch arrived, we walked into the closest restaurant and I could feel the air conditioning pour onto me and it felt magnificent. We took an extended lunch that day because of how hot it was and during lunch one of my buddies started to clean out his passenger seat for me. I hope he gets that clean but if not I’ll just have to tough it out and when I get home, turn on my central air conditioning. Overall, I’m thankful the state pays well and before I leave lunch, I have to fill my water bottle with lots of ice and cold water.
