It’s been a big year for us.

And I think it’s been an even bigger year for our kids.

It’s like they are encountering a whole new world. My wife and I decided not to raise our kids in the city. That meant moving out of the apartment building with the intense radiant heating. But it’s not as though we just moved out to the suburbs either. In fact, we moved way past the suburbs and all the way out to a very rural community. My wife and I are in a position that we can work remotely from home. Occasionally, we have to leave the central air conditioning of our new place to go into the city for work. Yet primarily, we are out here and out here to stay. But it’s been a big change for our kids. They left the only environment they knew to suddenly be out in nature where things are much simpler and much quieter. And where they live is much different as well. We bought an old farmhouse that sits on 10 acres. The house itself is somewhat modernized. It has an updated kitchen along with a other modern amenities. But the central air conditioning is limited to just the first floor. However, we wanted the kids bedrooms to be upstairs. So the local HVAC company installed a series of ductless heat pumps for quality heating and air upstairs. Hopefully, my kids will continue to transition to our new life in a positive way. And I think the great heating and cooling upstairs is part of that new reality.
