Don't be fooled by the low cost of plastic ductwork

Sometimes you’re offered a cheaper option, but it ends up being more expensive in the long run.

That’s how I feel about getting cheap used vehicles.

If you can afford a new car, it’s bound to last you for years to come with the right amount of care and maintenance. Sure you might have to pay a down payment and be stuck with a monthly car loan fee, but it’s worth it if you’ve got a car that’s going to last for years to come. I’m happy with my current car for that reason. And honestly, it hasn’t lost nearly as much value as people said it would. And the value to me is something that really can’t be quantified to others. As far as my house is concerned, I would much rather spend extra money and invest in things that are going to last. I unfortunately had old dock work that was leaky and poorly designed from the store. The heating and cooling company came to my house and quoted me a price on brand new ductwork. They are trying to sell me on the idea of getting flexible plastic ductwork because of the price and how easy it is for them to install it. But I did some reading on flex-ductwork and discovered that it has a number of durability concerns. It can develop tears and holes easily over longer periods of time, requiring a full replacement. Sometimes the old plastic ductwork only lasts 6 to 8 years, and then you have to get a new ventilation system. That’s a lot of money over a 20 year span of time. That’s why I wanted to just invest in new metal ductwork so it’ll last.
