Hiring a handyman to do the flooring
My house came with an ugly wood stove in the middle of the living room.
The previous owner made it functional too. It was vented through the wood ceiling and there was a stack on the roof. The woodstove sat on a brick pad that was placed on the flooring. They cut the carpet around it. The whole removal was messy and expensive. I had to hire a HVAC dealership to remove the woodstove, vent and take it away. I then had to hire a roofing business to remove the stack and patch the damage. The last thing was the wood ceiling hole and the brick pad. I looked at it and tried it myself. I removed the brick with a sledgehammer and then had to rip up the whole living room carpet. After that, I realized I needed help. I wanted a property maintenance company to do the rest. Thankfully I found a handyman service that does basically everything. I got a quote on a flooring remodel and the patch for the wood ceiling. It ended up costing me five grand and I feel good about that price. I now have a gray tile floor instead of ugly brown rug. I also have a wood ceiling that you can’t tell where the patch job is. It was a lot of work, time and money just to remove that ugly heater. The previous owner didn’t even use it either. It was as clean as a whistle inside of it. Why bother venting it to the ceiling if you don’t want to use it?
