As I have settled into my retirement, I have learned to be a lot more chill about things.

I used to be a type A personality, a real control freak that needed to be in the loop on everything that happened.

Now I am very content to sit back and let the experts handle what they trained for, and to not let things become my problem. In the past I felt like I was always putting out fires, now I realize I should have learned a long time ago to let the fire fighters of the world handle those things. Take my home HVAC system as a recent example of this. In the past I would have had several different inspections done, and made sure to follow each of the HVAC techs around to see what they were doing. Now I am old enough to realize that I am not an HVAC professional, and not qualified to supervise them, so I should just leave them to it. Did I ever think that my AC would get fixed faster because I was hovering over the workers? I guess I did, but now I am content to say hello the AC tech and then leave the house and let them get the work done in peace. This approach works for heating and cooling repairs, but it also works for just about every other aspect in life. If someone is a pro, then let them do what they trained for, and if you don’t know how to fix air conditioners then you best stay out of the way!
