My parents are both in their 70s plus not as mobile as they used to be, my mother prefers to go for long drives plus look at the weird properties, but since her stroke she isn’t safe behind the wheel. My father prefers to go to Burger King everyday to get a small cheeseburger, fry plus Coke, that is what they care about the most, then it became difficult driving over to their lake house everyday. My mother also struggled with cleaning, cooking plus my father couldn’t mow the lawn anymore. I didn’t want to put them in a nursing new home or rely on a new home dentist. So what the two of us did was set up a tiny new home solution right on my property. I have a big plot of land. It was easy to set up a modular new home for them. Technically it is a bunch of shipping containers hooked together to create an affordable tiny home. My parents each have a home office, study room, washroom plus living room. It is the right size for them. They don’t need to worry about care though. My spouse can walk over once a month to wash easily. I mow our yard plus by extension theirs too. I can do the drive by plus Burger King run everyday since they are right on my land. They adore that they are independent, private but they do have constant support. My spouse makes dinner every evening for the several of us. It is the best solution for them at their age, when they are gone I can use the space as a storage facility too.
