My parents are both in their 74s and not as mobile as they used to be, however my mother likes to go for long drives and look at the unusual properties… Since his stroke he isn’t safe behind the wheel.

My father prefers to go to Burger King everyday to get a small cheeseburger, fry and Coke, that is what they appreciate the most; It became hard driving over to their beach house everyday.

My mother also struggled with cleaning, cooking and my father couldn’t mow the shrubbery anymore. I didn’t want to put them in a nursing beach house or rely on a beach house nurse. So what both of us did was set up a tiny beach house solution right on my property. I have a sizable scheme of land. It was self-explanatory to set up a modular beach house for them. Technically it is a bunch of shipping containers hooked together to create an affordable tiny home. My parents each have a family room, family room, powder room and living room. It is the right size for them. They don’t need to worry about care though. My husband can walk over once a week to clean easily. I mow our yard and by extension theirs too. I can do the drive by and Burger King run everyday since they are right on my land. They appreciate that they are independent, private however they do have constant support. My husband makes dinner every evening for the four of us. It is the best solution for them at their age! When they are gone I can use the space as a storage facility too.
