My HVAC trainer gave me greater confidence in myself
It was interesting getting to know my trainer when I got into the HVAC company I applied at.
I felt like I was ready to go because I did well in HVAC trade school.
The trainer told me that if I ever wanted to become a leader in the HVAC industry, I had to work hard and always work on learning new things. I told him I didn’t think I was cut out to be a leader, but he said that I could do anything I put my mind to, it was all about focus. That sounded like something my mother used to tell me, but I guessed it was true. This guy was great though, he made me feel motivated and I was learning a lot of stuff from him. I was actually kind of disappointed when I had to go into the field on my own and didn’t have him to help me out anymore. Of course, I did pretty well on my own and I always was able to think back to everything he taught me. I feel like in many of those situations with more advanced heating and cooling repairs, I wouldn’t have been able to handle those situations with only what I learned in school. This guy taught me the real important stuff and I feel entirely thankful to him. Eventually, he was promoted to become the head manager after the other guy retired. Everybody was happy for him, especially me. I was shocked though when one of the first things he did was put me in charge of training. All the new HVAC professionals were suddenly going through me, but I did have a lot to teach them.
