I almost got myself bit by a cat

I went to an apartment complex to perform a task on a heat pump problem.

The employer was in the office when I arrived.

I double checked at the office with both the employer and the leasing agent to be 100% sure that there was no dog at the apartment. The employer looked at her paperwork and she confirmed that there wasn’t a dog listed on the lease. I have encountered some issue in the past with dogs and cats, so I always knock on the door even if there isn’t supposed to be anyone at home. Usually if there is a big dog in there not listed on the lease, the dog will start barking at the sound of my voice and the knock on the front door. I knocked on the door of the house and there was no sound at all. I turned the key gently and then opened the door just a small amount. I yelled again and announced myself as the heat pump repair serviceman. Then the door closed on my foot and I saw a massive black lab sitting right in front of me. The angry dog was snarling and growling and he tried to bite my leg more than once. I got the door closed and relocked and I went to the office to speak with the employer. I told the lady that the lady in the house had a big angry dog. I gave the staff the house number for the heat pump repair again and it turns out that they had looked at the wrong file when they checked on the pet the first time. There was a dog listed on that tenant’s lease. The error by the management team nearly cost me my foot.
