I tried to be nice when the customer was rude
It’s not easy to be a female HVAC repair technician.
Most of the time I get a second look and sometimes I even have customers asking if I am certain that I can handle the job.
I find it to be terribly rude and discourteous to question my skills simply because I have breasts instead of a penis. I went to a hotel on Friday afternoon. One of our new commercial customers called for help and I was assigned to the repair job. I had to park in the garage and it was a nightmare finding a spot. I had to walk two blocks to the repair, so I only took a small bag of tools in the beginning. I certainly did not want to lug around a whole bag of tools that might not even be necessary to complete the job. As soon as I got to the hotel, I asked the front desk clerk if he could find the manager for me. I told the guy that I was from the HVAC repair company. When the manager came out of his office, he looked just as surprised as the other guy that helped me at the front desk. The manager asked me if there was anyone else that was going to help with the repair. I tried to be nice even though that customer was being extremely rude. It doesn’t help to get upset when you deal with ignorant and foolish people. I did tell my boss exactly what happened, just in case he wants to send someone else next time the jackal calls with a request for services.
