Considering the age of our HVAC and the maintenance we had completed regularly over the years, I calculated that our HVAC would be coming to an end soon.

• We had been using this HVAC system for 13 years.

Even if the system was somehow able to last over 15 years, I knew the energy bills were only going to become more costly as that’s what happens naturally when the HVAC system reaches a certain age. It can no longer perform as it did while it was a newer system and of course there are many factors to consider. One thing that’s important is making sure the ductwork system is not clogged up with dirt and debris, and of course I made sure to have ductwork cleaning done every other year. We had ductwork resealing done about 5 years back so I know the ductwork has been tight and keeping the system efficient without any leakage. Still, lately I have been thinking about going for a ductless option. I have read a lot about ductless multi systems which will cover all your heating and cooling needs with different zones throughout your home. Each zone has its own thermostat for customized temperature control settings. If you have an area of the house that you don’t use very often, like our guest rooms for example, then you don’t have to bother keeping those areas at the ideal temperature control settings. You mainly will just focus on the areas that you use regularly like the family room, kitchen, and bedrooms. That saves you big money and these systems are so efficient, I actually can’t wait to use such a system to see the massive decrease in energy costs!
