It’s not at all easy to move home when you’re an adult.

It’s just hard. For me, I had no real choice but to move back in with my folks. Honestly, I know just how fortunate I am to have that sort of safety net. At least the heating and cooling is a whole lot better at my parent’s house than in my old apartment. I had to give that apartment up when I lost my job due to the pandemic. One day, I’m coming to work at my fairly new job in the zone controlled HVAC comfort of a really nice office. I had scored that job right out of college and was there for almost 3 years. But the pandemic changed all that and very quickly. First, we were all sent home to work remotely in our own air conditioning. But that only lasted about 3 weeks for me when I was laid off. I can’t say that I was all that surprised given the fact that I was one of the last to be hired. I tried to hold on with some online gig work but it just wasn’t enough. Thankfully, my parents offered me my old room right away. I hung in there a few months hoping to be called back but that didn’t happen. The good thing is that I have been able to help my dad finish off the basement apartment that he’s been trying to do for years. He needed a second pair of hands and I was more than ready to help. The HVAC company came out to install a pair of ductless heat pumps at either end of the large apartment that dad and I had put together.
