Despite budget cuts, we’re keeping the HVAC maintenance
The past year and a half have been some challenging times for our household finances.
It’s not like we were all that well off prior to the pandemic.
We certainly were paying our bills and saving money as well. But once the pandemic hit and neither my wife nor I were working from the zone controlled HVAC of our offices, we had to deal with less revenue. My wife had to take a 25 percent pay cut across the board to keep her job. And my entire bonus structure, which accounts for more than 20 percent of my income, was gone and still hasn’t come back. Now, we are dealing with some wicked inflation with the snags going on in the world economy. We are still dealing with less income although we are both back to work at our offices with the zone controlled HVAC. So we have had to continue to monitor our spending very closely as well as make further cuts. As we were going over the budget once again, the matter of HVAC maintenance came up. We replaced the HVAC equipment three years ago with the latest in residential HVAC. It was recommended by the HVAC company as well as the manufacturer to get regular seasonal HVAC maintenance. So we signed up right away for the HVAC service plan. Well, we got to that payment in our budget and considered doing without it for a while. However, it didn’t take us long to realize that this would be a really bad idea given how much we invested in the HVAC equipment and just how essential it is to our lives.
