So many choices for heating
So many choices for heating
The options for heating are endless.
You can go for a furnace that hooks to ductwork and creates whole home heating.
There are electric, gas and oil based furnaces. If you live in a moderate climate and have a small home, electricity is quite smart. It is 100% efficient and easy to install. However, the cost of electricity will bankrupt you if you need the heater for most of the year. A gas option is much smarter if you live in a colder climate and need to heat the whole home. Gas heater installation is quite involved with the hookups and flue network. You need to be on it with heating service too. This system can easily catch fire if it gets too dirty. An oil heater is safer and more efficient. It simply burns a hotter flame. However, you need an on site oil tank that is quite large and an eye sore. Also, the homeowner is totally dependent on oil deliveries. Do you really want to be without heating during a snowstorm? There are more than furnaces though. Some homes use boiler systems that are giant but very powerful. These systems can hook up to baseboards or radiators in the home. They also can have piping extended from them to be a pool heater, snowmelt system, hot water heater and heated flooring. You don’t need a boiler to have heated flooring though. You can simply purchase electric heated mats and place them under your tile floors. It is an extremely efficient heating system but the installation requires your floors being totally torn up. So sure you are certain that is what you want.
