My husband and I do the snowbird thing.

We go down south right before Christmas and stick around until may.

That way we get the best of both worlds. I will admit, I love my little beach house more than my northern home. I like having a small house to care for and clean. It makes everything so easy. I like that I can just walk out my door and hit the water. I like the weather and the relaxation. The beach house is not as good of a house as my northern one though. There are lots of problems with it. I have needed to scrape popcorn ceilings and replace drywall. I also needed to replace electric and plumbing parts. I am eager to get a new HVAC system. Everytime my husband and I go down south the unit is totally frozen solid. I read online it is because the AC is filled with dust and over works itself. I talked to a HVAC contractor about it and he told me I should use the AC until it won’t run anymore. He says I can get another few years out of it. I hate taking a hair dryer and melting the block of ice. I hate mucking out the condensate drain and getting rid of all the dust. I really want a new air conditioner so I don’t have to worry about it. My husband is giddy every year we get out of it. It makes our relaxing southern vacation not as fun. I don’t want to mess around with AC repairs everytime I visit.
