Going geothermal HVAC with this house
Going geothermal HVAC with this house
My wife and I have now had four different homes in which we have lived.
- And each one represented a neat part of our lives.
The first place was a tiny little two bedroom salt box of a place. We didn’t even really have any sort of modern residential HVAC. I think there was electric wall heating but there wasn’t much call for heat. That house was in the deep south. We did have to buy two window air conditioners though. The next place was a nice 3 bedroom and it sort of represented the fact that we were settled into our careers and making decent money. The last house we owned was our family home. And that was such a great house. When we bought it, we upgraded the HVAC unit to a level of quality heating and air that was pretty dang good for that era. We really took care of that HVAC equipment. The heating and cooling unit received regular HVAC service on a seasonal basis. Finally, we simply got on an HVAC service plan which made it so easy. That paid off because that old HVAC equipment lasted until we replaced it to put the house on the market. Well, we finally built a house that we basically designed. And this time, we went with a geothermal heat pump. This is some of the most sustainable HVAC technology on the market. And we are simply thrilled with the quality heating and air. Plus, our heating and cooling costs have never been lower. While the geothermal heat pump was a bit more costly upfront, we will be enjoying it and all those HVAC utility savings for the rest of our lives.
