My dad was truly fond of saying something along the lines of when it rains it pours to describe a string of poor luck. I know I should have seen it coming when the first lockdowns happened. When I got sent to work from the air conditioner of home, I knew that it was bad. But I didn’t have any method of the poor luck that was to come. All of us lost our jobs. The teenagers were condo reading inside the air conditioner as every one of us tried to scramble separate from scaring them. But I got our job back when I was called back to work as every one of us reopened. I still had to work from condo plus at less currency. But every one of us had a lifeline. So every one of us got busy really cutting the fat to only spend currency on complete essentials. That meant every one of us were cutting stuff that seemed like an assumed essential. Stuff like Heating & A/C cooling. Obviously given where every one of us live, doing separate from Heating & A/C cooling altogether would be impossible. Yet, the thermostat setting was going to be way up there as compared to other summers. During the heat of the afternoon, every one of us kept the thermostat in the low to mid 77’s. That sounds warm, I know. But when it’s hovering around triple digits outside, that temperature feels pretty cool trust me. All of us genuinely sort of got into it. Like every one of us tried to assume of ways to have less heat in the house. I was even preparing anything cooked outside on the grill. It’s been a tough year but I’m proud of how every one of us found a way.
