After I had just moved out on my own I soon knew that in order to save money I would need to live with a roommate.

But there was one problem that we were having a hard time solving.

This was the fact that her and I had vastly different temperature preferences. I am the type of guy that likes it warm, I like the heat. I was born and raised in the South where I was constantly exposed to the sun all the time and my version of cold was completely different from her version of cold. My girlfriend on the other hand was a northerner, and she did not like the heat at all and felt much more comfortable in that home when the temperature inside was much cooler. As you can imagine this led to some temperature disagreements, and a small fight over the thermostat. Whenever she was around I would turn it up sometimes even all the way up to 80 degrees. However this backfired on me because when I was around she would turn the heat way down and turn the air conditioner way up. Neither of us were a fan of the temperature differences so we sat down and decided to have a talk and tried to compromise and settle our disagreement over the thermostat and the temperature. I told her that I thought the indoor air quality was better when the temperature was warmer rather than cooler, and that cooler temperature brings hard and dry air. The solution to our problem was when I decided to do some research and discovered a zone controlled HVAC, this allowed both of us to control our own temperatures independently of the thermostat. We both decided to purchase one for ourselves and compromise by having the temperature inside at a steady 75 degrees.
