Ceiling leak turns out to be air conditioner leak

Ceiling leak turns out to be air conditioner leak

It rained yesterday absolutely hard.

That morning I woke up and observed that our roof was leaking.

There was a lot of water on the carpet in the hallway and I could see water dripping from the ceiling. I got a pan to collect the water and then the people I was with and I instantly called out a roofer. I had to wait almost a month before the roofers came out. The unusual thing is that the roof kept leaking even though it wasn’t raining. When the roofers came out I found out why. They explained that it is not our roof that is leaking. They said that the leak appears to be coming from our cooling system. They said that the water is dripping through the HVAC duct in the ceiling. So then the people I was with and I called up an Heating and A/C business. I thought I would have to wait another month for the Heating and A/C workers to come out. That did not turn out to be the case. They showed up less than 24 hours after I called them. They fixed the drip pipe in our Heating and A/C system and they sealed our HVAC duct. They also insulated our HVAC duct to help it work better. So the dripping has finally stopped. Now I just need to get our ceiling repaired and have someone check for mold. I absolutely wish I had known it was our cooling system a month ago when this leak started. I could have gotten it fixed much faster and then the people I was with and I wouldn’t be worrying about mold right now. I had just thought that a leaving ceiling meant that the roof was leaking. Apparently that is not consistently the case.
