Not sure if I should just stick with ductwork sealing or upgrade the HVAC

Did you realize that, on average, 30% of your HVAC monthly bills are lost through the HVAC duct system? I did not actually know that until recently.

  • All of us were getting our HVAC appliance diagnosed and the HVAC company informed us that all of us really needed to get our HVAC duct sealed.

They explained that there were gaps in our HVAC duct and that all of us were losing a great deal of our heated and cooled air that way. All of us went ahead and had them do a HVAC duct sealing. I’m going to wait and see if our monthly bills go down any in the next couple of months. While researching the issue, I came across these things known as ductless mini split systems! Essentially, it’s a heating and cooling appliance that does not use a system of ductwork. Instead, it works kind of like a window a/c appliance, but the outdoor component looks similar to a single one that central a/c uses. But it uses pipes that go directly into an indoor dispenser. You can have several different indoor dispensers, throughout the dwelling, but no ductwork is involved whatsoever. It’s a little bit complex but I’m honestly thinking about getting a single one for our dwelling. That’s because the HVAC company also mentioned that our HVAC appliance is getting a bit old and all of us might want to start thinking about getting a new one entirely. I’m thinking about going a different route entirely. I’m going to call up our HVAC company and see if they install ductless mini-split systems and get a price estimate for a dwelling. I just wish I’d done this before I paid for them to actually seal our ductwork.
