I am very good at getting used to smells.

If something stinks, I will notice it at first, but after only a few minutes, I completely forget about it.

Every once in a while, something is bad enough to cause me to be able to smell it, but not often. Regardless, I have been noticing that my house has a bad smell. I don’t notice it unless I have been outside for a while before walking inside for the first time. After a bit of snooping around, I realized that the smell was coming from my air conditioner. My air conditioner was pretty old, and my first course of action was to get rid of the air conditioner and replace it with a new one. However, after I did a little bit of research, I learned that if you don’t change the air filter on your air conditioner, it can cause your home to smell like mildew. Well, I never knew that air conditioners have air filters, so I can confirm that this air conditioner has never been changed since I have owned the HVAC unit. Once I figured out how to pull out the air filter on the air conditioner, I could easily see that the air filter needed to be changed. I washed it out with a house until it looked pretty new, and I put it back in the air conditioner. After a few hours, my wife told me that the air conditioner didn’t smell anymore, and our house was nice again! I was glad. Now I have to remember to clean the air filter on the air conditioner regularly.
