Chillers
Chillers
Chillers are the basics of the air conditioning unit.
I never thought that I would have a chiller in my home.
The air-cooled chiller works by processing the ambient air. An air-cooled chiller uses an air cooled condensing unit and water chilled evaporator. Instead of cooling the air by removing heat, it cools or chills water instead. It then circulates the cold water through the building. The chilled water is then made available to various fan coils to cool individual areas (remove heat). This gives each area control over the temperature. The warmer water returns to the chiller where the heat is removed and thus chilled again. It is a very efficient way of cooling a building. You can think of it as the reverse of hot water heating. The fan coils also serve as heaters. They have dual coils and separate water sources; one hot and one cold. I liken this chiller to my new ductless HVAC system. They both work in the same way and they are both excellent heating and air conditioning systems. I am so glad I am living in an era when all of these magnificent inventions are available in our homes. If I could tell my grandmother that we had chillers and boilers in our house, she would have swatted me with the newspaper and told me to quit my lying. I’m sure she knew about them, since they were being used in new construction. She was just a simple country woman, and it is possible she may not have even known about them being in businesses.
