Do I need an Industrial or Commercial Chiller?
Do I need an Industrial or Commercial Chiller?
I really had no idea what type of chiller I needed when I started talking about opening an ice cream shop.
I had taken lessons on how to make ice cream.
I learned the difference between sorbet, frozen yogurt, ice cream, and sherbet. I knew how the science of mixology when it came to making frozen confections. They even showed the business of marketing and how to draw people into your ice cream shop. They showed what didn’t work in an ice cream shop, as far as decorating. What they didn’t teach us is how to choose the proper chiller. I called a shop that advertised a chiller for rent. They had commercial and industrial chillers and I wanted to know the difference. The man I talked to told me that commercial chillers were used for the food industry. The industrial chiller is used more for industry and working with air conditioning units. Now, my question was what kind of chiller did I need. He told me that for the small scale business I was planning, I would do best with an air-cooled chiller. The air-cooled chiller is best when you have smaller spaces, and they are cheaper to install and maintain. He told me the only real drawbacks are that they can be a bit noisy and they may not last as long. He offered to send me some information, and he sent me his card. I wanted to make sure I was making a wise choice, and he was very helpful. I told my husband that when I made my choice, I was going to go to his company.
