I’m not going to fool anyone. There are certainly many things that I just plain hate about growing older. All the “wisdom” is a great big bonus but I’d trade for that pliable body that heals quick. That particular thing is making me very aware of my age. This is only compounded by the incredible social revolution that is taking place all around us. All I can do is to crank the HVAC, kick back and just keep on going. I certainly didn’t see all of this on the horizon while I was a budding adult back in the 90’s. Just the tech wave alone is still blowing my mind on like a weekly basis. Unfortunately, with all that comes a balancing. So much of the new technology has replaced what a human once got paid for. This is a sweeping change. I was let go by a company I was sure that I would be able to retire with. But, I was let go after 31 years and it was over in a flash. I still had to earn money so, I put myself out there as a consultant. This required me to work from home. I took over a guest room. My wife wasn’t super stoked with the idea but, I had to have an office that wasn’t part junkroom. I put all the necessary business equipment in there. That even include me getting myself a new desk. Nothing fancy but nice. I also called the HVAC guys to come out to install a ductless HVAC unit. I like my office to be a certain temperature and remain there. That’s why I needed a dedicated heating and cooling unit. My wife didn’t dig that too much either.
