We expected to get a traffic ticket, however both of us did not expect some crazy events to take place. My partner was pulled out of the vehicle plus arrested in handcuffs. The state patrol officer believed my partner was some crazy escaped convict. Even though my partner had identification, he was still arrested plus detained for numerous days. They almost arrested me also, however the kids were crying like crazy, begging, plus pleading. I believe the late afternoon hour absolutely helped. I had to hire a criminal lawyer to prove my partner’s actual identity. The criminal lawyer advocated that we proceed to sue the police department for mistaken identity plus harassment. I didn’t want to have to file a lawsuit against the department, however they entirely refused to apologize for the mistake. Since they caused so much trouble for our family plus refused to apologize, my partner plus I followed a civil suit against the department. The lawyer helped us get a completely large settlement, plus the police department was forced to write a letter of apology also. The officer was never even suspended for the act, although I hope he will not treat innocent people like that again. My partner had the regular identification plus my kids were in the car when this was going down. I know there must have been a better way to handle this type of situation.
