Why you should not wrap your a/c during the winter
Each Springtime our dealer is genuinely busy.
My pal and I handle at least 10 appointments a morning & each one takes over an hour.
My pal and I are a smaller Heating, Ventilation & A/C dealership so my fantastic friend and I only have four servicemans on staff & they are always out on service or trouble calls. One call that my fantastic friend and I get each Springtime confuses me because my fantastic friend and I keep reminding our buyers that they are harming their Heating, Ventilation & A/C equipment by wrapping it in plastic. For some reason many homeowners have decided that they need to completely wrap their exterior air conditioning equipment during the winter time to keep the snow out. Would you request making a cover of sorts but it should be made out of wood or something that can breathe because the heat pump within the exterior equipment operates all year long. By wrapping the exterior equipment you cause moisture to build up within it & it causes disfigurement that must be repaired costing homeowners currency in the long run. To avoid heavy snow buildup on top of the exterior equipment you can simply make a wooden box that leaves plenty of room around it to breathe but doesn’t allow the snow to kneel directly on top of it. I have even seen covers that are solid on the top but that use lattice sides so that air can circulate freely around the unit. This type of design keeps debris such as leaves & sticks that may fall from trees off of being equipment as well. Each time that my fantastic friend and I arrive at a apartment & see a plastic tarp tied tightly around the exterior air conditioning equipment my fantastic friend and I just cringe because my fantastic friend and I know when my fantastic friend and I take it off it’s going to be a mess.
