It’s been cooling off a lot around here the past few days.

Whenever the winter temperatures start setting in, you just never know what people are going to do when it comes to their HVAC systems.

Sometimes people turn their heating systems up and they just let them run for the duration of the winter. I guess that’s okay if you have one of those energy efficient furnaces, since that way you won’t have to pay super high heating bills every month. But sometimes people don’t understand the way to set their thermostats so that everyone will be comfortable. For example, last night we had to go to a sports banquet for my son’s fall football league. At the banquet, there were close to two hundred people. The management team at the banquet facility obviously didn’t take into account the body heat of all the people that were at the sports banquet. When you have over two hundred people crammed into one big room, the temperature is definitely going to go up because of all of the body heat! Of course, the management team had the thermostat of the banquet facility set at a really high temperature. The weather outside was really cold, so having the thermostat set at a high temperature would make sense if you weren’t going to have so many people in the room. I don’t think the management team thought about how hot it was going to be in the room with all of those people. By the time we left the banquet, I was done with heating for the night! I didn’t even turn the heater on in the car on the way home.
