Preventing HVAC fires

An HVAC technician is trained to look for all of these dangers during his routine inspections

You may have heard about the necessity of properly maintaining your heating and air conditioning system. This includes regular maintenance. The air filter should be changed regularly to ensure that harmful particles are being cleaned from the system. The different machine components of the HVAC system should be cleaned and tightened and lubricated. The air ducts may indeed need a good cleaning every now and then. You may be wondering to yourself what’s the harm in letting your climate control system go without regular maintenance. Well, besides the chance that you will lose an expensive investment and end up either hot and sweaty in the summer or bitterly cold in the winter because you neglected to maintain your unit, there’s also the risk of a fire starting! That’s right, there are a variety of ways that a fire can be started from an HVAC system that was not properly tended to. Perhaps there is too much dirt and debris clogging the system that may eventually catch fire. Or maybe certain machine parts are wearing down and causing a lot of friction that can cause a fire to break out. Faulty wiring can also cause fires rather easily. An HVAC technician is trained to look for all of these dangers during his routine inspections. It’s really just foolish not to call out an HVAC technician at least twice a year for your system. You may not just be preventing the breakdown of your system You may very well be preventing the breaking out of a fire! So, take heed and call out an HVAC technician if it’s been a long time.
