I tend to get a bit testy these days when I’m in a retail situation.

There was a time when you could go to a store to get an item, get the help you need and that was it.

But for more than a decade, I’ve been getting hit with the upsell when I’m trying to simply pay for my items, and it’s just gotten more and more aggressive as the years have passed, and it’s almost to the point that I’ll never leave my air conditioning plus just buy everything online. And that is something that really bums me out. So whenever I hear anything that sounds remotely like an upsell, I get defensive. And because of that default reaction, I almost missed out on the HVAC repair plan. I called the HVAC business to make an appointment for HVAC service. The appointment was made and then the lady on the other end started talking about the HVAC repair plan. Immediately, I got irritated and simply wanted to end the call. As soon as I hung up the phone, I realized that I was being rude. So I actually called the lady back to hear what she had to say. And if I hadn’t done that, I would not have gotten one of the best deals I’ve ever gained. The HVAC repair system is really special. We get heating service in the fall plus an air conditioning tune up in the springtime as part of the HVAC repair plan. But the real bonus is the fact that I shall never pay for labor if anything happens to the heat pump. All I shall have to do is pay for parts. I am sure happy I called that lady at the HVAC business back.
