I was standing around in the lobby of a movie theatre not too long ago, when I heard someone complaining about their family. She was saying how she could never get a word in when they were talking and that they weren’t very sophisticated. I wished that were the only things that were wrong with my family. My family are very easy to get along with, but they don’t know how to keep from touching things. I had on a silk dress two weeks ago, and before I left the house everyone who was there, had to feel the material. I swore that I walked out of the house looking like I was the local fingerprint pad. When I went back home, I was glad that I lived over a hundred miles away from them. I didn’t have to have their fingers on me all of the time. It isn’t just clothing they all feel, but the last time my sister and her family came to my house was right after I had a new HVAC installed. When my sister saw the Smart Thermostat, she wanted to know how to change the temperature. I told her that she couldn’t and hoped that would be enough. An hour later, she was in the kitchen trying to poke and twist at the thermostat. She said it was too cold in her room and she wanted the air conditioning turned down. I then caught my niece playing with the thermostat and then her husband. I swore that if either of her boys had touched that thermostat, I was going to break their grubby little fingers.
