My child & her spouse recently moved.

She was talking about the great the new lake house they were renting. Two weeks later, she was complaining about the air conditioner. She told me she had tried to get up into the attic to see if it needed insulation, but there was no entrance into the attic. The owners of the lake house had plastered over the attic entrance to keep renters from getting in there. She could know the heat coming off the ceiling as it invaded the lake house through the roof, down through the attic, & through the ceiling. She said the air conditioner component in the lake house was at least a ton smaller than what it should’ve been, & it was running all the time. She was not going to pay to have the air conditioner component updated, so she & her spouse & out & purchased a window air conditioner unit. She said the window AC component will offset the central air conditioner, & keep the dining room much cooler. The lowest temperature she could achieve in her dining room without the window AC component was 75, & she said there was no way she was going to keep her fat body cool at 75°. I laughed at her statement, & I asked how the rest of the lake house was. She said they were going to buy a bigger window AC component for in the living room, but since the rest of the lake house was not being used that often, she would just let the central AC do its task. I wondered if she gave any thought to how moderate the dining room was going to be?
