Getting winter ready

Preparing for the winter in my area is quite hardcore.

I need to cover my plants to save them from the frost. All my potted plants come inside to stay away from the chill. I put away all the lawn furniture, garden decorations and anything that could get blown away. Inside the house there is a lot of prepwork as well. I need to caulk around the windows and doorways to ensure none of the air my heating system produces will leak out. I also ensure there is ample insulation around the baseboards. One year I could feel the cold air leaking inside the house. My poor heater had to keep going 24/7 to combat the chill. I also get my heating system serviced before the cold sneaks in. The fall is the best time to get a heating tune up. In the winter there is too much competition. Some people are lazy and are scheduling heating service late. There are those who didn’t do service and now need heater repairs. There is also a huge crowd of people that schedule heating service right before a major holiday. To avoid a lengthy wait list and a possibly higher service bill, I call in the fall season. I always get an appointment when I want it. I then have enough time to get my heating part if there is a repair before the snow hits. I usually get a fall heating service deal because of my time of year as well. After my service date, I know I am ready for winter.
