I honestly thought I had a full handle on my HVAC.

When it comes to the heating and cooling of our home, I was the one who was accountable.

Each month, I change the HVAC air filter to be sure the HVAC equipment is getting the proper air flow. A clogged HVAC air filter can really cause problems for the HVAC unit. So I make sure that doesn’t happen. When I’m changing the air filter, I also try to take a quick walk around the house to be sure the air vents are open and not obstructed in any way. Again, it’s important that there is even HVAC heating and cooling distribution. I even make sure the HVAC cabinet outside the house is free of debris. The HVAC cabinet outside can also be obstructed by weeds, leaves and other stuff. So I make sure it’s clear. So how in the world had I not gotten to the ductwork cleaning and ductwork resealing? That’s the question that I’ve been asking myself over and over since I finally got the ductwork cleaning done. I just kept putting it off I guess because I really didn’t think it would be all that big a deal. Cleaning the HVAC ductwork was sort of an extravagance or so I thought. The fact is that ductwork can sag and the joints between the duct segments can come open. This leads to dust and debris entering the ductwork. And after all these years, I was stunned to see just how much came out of the ductwork. The ductwork resealing then helps stop debris from entering the ductwork while increasing the efficiency of the HVAC equipment as well.
