Budgeting for heated flooring in the kitchen

I have a lot of projects that I want to get done.

The first is I want to gut my kitchen and get everything brand new.

I want new lights, windows, cabinets and countertops. I even picked out the appliances that will replace the old ones when they break. I chose a grey tile floor to bring everything all together. I am budgeting everything carefully because I want to add heated flooring in the process. It would be so easy to add electric heated mats while doing the flooring installation. However, by adding a heating system, I am doubling the costs of floors. Right now I have a ventless gas heater that sits on the floor of the kitchen. It takes up space where a cupboard could be. It also looks really ugly and doesn’t work that well. Heated flooring could be the answer to everything. It wouldn’t take up space, make noise or blow air around. Since the heat is electric based, it is silent, clean and efficient. No heated air will rise to the ceiling or create cold spots around the house. I also can do this heating installation project on my own. You simply place down the mats like puzzle pieces. You can also buy the heating system at the local hardware store. I think I would be willing to have not as nice of lights or appliances in order to get a good heating system under my floor. The heater will last 15 years. I don’t want to cheap out and get something I don’t want.
