I was hanging out with my best friend one weekend when his dad interrupted our video games to offer my friend a job.

His dad owns a heating and AC repair shop.

The business has been steady and my friend’s dad wanted him to start working on the weekends inside of the repair shop. The job was simple. He was going to sweep, mop, stock shelves, and answer the phone. My friend started complaining as soon as his dad mentioned working. Of course I have no aversion to hard work, so I immediately offered to take the job. My friend seemed happy that I filled the position and his dad told me to meet him at the business address on Saturday morning. The only places I have worked in the past have been burger joints. This was my first job in an actual business and I wanted to do well. I listened to everything that my friend’s dad had to say and I followed all of his directions. I worked extra hours when he needed help and I even made myself available on the holiday weekend. That was almost six months ago and now I am working full-time at the heating and AC repair company. My friend and I still get together to play video games, but I work 40 hours every week and I am usually pretty busy. I’m even learning the HVAC trade, so one day I can make even more money working as a repair technician. My buddy is spoiled and doesn’t realize how good he has things.
