I don’t like to think of myself as a snob but I am accustomed to the finer things in life.

This isn’t something that I have to have but it is indeed my preference.

However, I also realize that I have been very privileged from the very beginning in order to have those sort of tastes. I grew up in a very wealthy family. Like we had built in air purification in our home before whole home air purification was really even a thing. And our home was always so perfectly air conditioned. I didn’t sweat or get chilled unless I wanted to when I was growing up. This privilege led to a great education and the subsequent important career with all the perks. Speaking of air conditioning, my office has the latest in HVAC technology and also has zone controlled HVAC. But I recently learned that one doesn’t have to have the best to enjoy great heating and cooling. On a recent business trip, a flight was cancelled and I couldn’t get a charter or anything. I had to drive to get to my important business meeting. Nearing exhaustion, I pulled off the interstate and spent the night in one of those chain hotels just off the exit ramp. I was stunned to find it so clean, well appointed and nicely HVAC maintained. The room was excellent and I was thrilled to have that big HVAC equipment that was built into the wall. It cooled the room off within minutes. That’s more than I can say for some of the fanciest hotels in the country.
