The wood furnace is affordable, but a lot of work

My wife and I looked at a lot of houses before we decided to build one of our own.

We wanted certain things in the house that aren’t normally provided, like five bedrooms and three bathrooms. Building our own modern dream home was the perfect option, especially after we found a reasonable piece of property. The 10 acre parcel of land was big enough for our home and a three car garage. When selecting the appliances for our home, my wife and I disagreed on the heating system. My wife wanted to choose an affordable wood furnace for our heating system, but I knew that was going to cost more money in the long run. Either I would spend money having wood delivered, or I would have to find time each spring and summer to cut my own. I urged my wife to consider a different option. She grew up with a wood furnace and she loved the smell of the house with a wood fire. We talked for a week, before I finally convinced her to look at a gas furnace. We found some exceptionally nice models that were priced reasonably and energy efficient. After my wife saw the many options, she finally agreed with my decision to purchase a gas furnace instead of wood. The wood furnace would have been more affordable, but I didn’t want to be stuck having to worry about fuel every winter season. I can easily rent a fuel tank and have fuel delivered monthly or weekly. Lots of homeowners in this region choose gas over wood because of the ease and affordability.
