Beating the seasonal allergies with help from HVAC
The first day it was installed, I could tell a difference in a few hours.
There are a few times a year when I have to load up with OTC allergy meds. It’s no fun but it’s so not good when I don’t take the meds. My eyes are swollen, I’m sneezing and wheezing and all that. It’s not a good look at all. But the spring is the worst of it for me. It’s like right as the air conditioner wants to cycle on, the pollen descends. Where we live, it’s a super mild winter followed by plenty of heat the rest of the year. One would think that having the HVAC equipment running would help remove pollen from the inside air at least. I suppose that would be true to some degree if you had a HEPA filter for the HVAC. I don’t. So I couldn’t even deal with my allergies and get a respite being inside my house in the air conditioning. Well, last year’s misery and then pandemic house arrest was enough for me. I chose to have the HVAC company put in a permanent end to my indoor air quality problems when it came to the pollen. They installed a whole home air purification system in my the air handler of the HVAC equipment. It literally destroys the pollen with UV light. Like burns up the DNA of the pollen molecules. And it works like a charm. The first day it was installed, I could tell a difference in a few hours. But the time I got home from work, I could hardly recognize the air in my home. It was so fresh, clean and sweet smelling. I was also pollen free.
