HVAC false start

HVAC false start

We get the worst of all weather here. It’s a really cold winter followed by a really hot summer. That’s full on gas furnace to full on HVAC cooling. The fall and the spring are nothing but a mixed bag to say the least. I have enjoyed a few days with the gas furnace off thinking maybe we were through. Then I got slammed with a cold snap that offers to break my spirit and belief for the merciful end to winter. So I really never know just what I’m going to get into so much. This year was a great example of what I’m saying only it ended with a fried air conditioner prior to that inevitable late cold snap. There was a really weird hot streak in the spring this year. It was like in the high 80’s. My wife works at home so I thought I’d flip the air conditioning on to help her out. This turned out to be a fail. The gas furnace I’m religious about getting proper, timely and consistent HVAC maintenance. Doing otherwise would be just a stupid thing to do given the intensity of our winter. The air conditioner tune-ups on the other hand, I’m not so consistent with. Or consistent at all. This led to a sure fire air conditioning fail about 5 hours after I turned the thermostat over to cooling. Of course, the HVAC technician told me that had I simply gotten the HVAC service plan, that this would have been caught well before it turned into an expensive repair. That was just the news I was looking for.
