Protecting the AC from extreme weather conditions

One of the things that are often out of our control and almost impossible to manipulate is the weather.

While forecasting is possible, it is not always accurate.

Even so, preparing for seasons, no matter the severity, is essential. There are many reasons why people need to prepare in advance, including caring for their HVAC system. The AC or heating equipment you have installed in your house is a major investment that is worth protecting. This explains why you should prioritize its safety during harsh weather conditions. For instance, a central heating unit or furnace may be severely affected by extremely cold weather. To some extent, it may even force these units to stop working altogether. Fortunately, there are a few tricks that can ensure your heating unit is perfect all winter long. First, you must ensure that the filter is cleaned. If you must change the filter every week, be sure to do so as long as there will be clogging of the system and airflow restrictions. Secondly, you also need to clear the air vents and ensure that the outdoor exit to the vents is also evident. Get rid of all potential debris that may find its way to the vents. Also, clear the piling snow and eliminate any substance that threatens to find its way inside the unit. Try to maintain moderate but steady temperatures. Avoid cranking them up or constantly changing the temperatures as this may put too much strain on the furnace, which is not something that you want to deal with during such periods. Furnace maintenance also goes a long way, but this has to be done before the harsh season.
