The air conditioner tries to work hard to cool the house down quickly when you go from eighty to sixty-five, or even seventy. The same thing happens with the heating. You can get away with turning the thermostat up to ninety to get a quick blast of heat into your car. Your car’s HVAC system will work quickly without any damage. If you turn your thermostat down to fifty while out of the house, you need to slowly bring the temperature back up to seventy. As with the air conditioner, you are putting a lot of stress on your furnace to quickly heat the house. This takes away from the lifespan of your HVAC system, and causes a lot of breakdowns. Many people have chosen smart thermostats, because they will allow for a slow cool down and heat up. You can even start the process when on your way home, with a smart thermostat.
