There are parts of this country where the weather gets so cold that you can’t go without a good heating system.

There are also parts of the country where you can’t go without air conditioning. I live in an area, where it is important to have both heating and air conditioning. We get those wild temperature swings where it is sub-zero in the winter, and tropical conditions in the summer. Without my highly efficient HVAC system, there is no way we could survive. I recently realized that it isn’t just the HVAC system that needs to be maintained, but I also have to be aware of certain other things in my home. I took my insulation for granted. I lived in my home for five years, not even thinking about insulation or weather stripping. It wasn’t until I had cold spots during the winter, and hot spots in the summer, and called the HVAC company, that I gave insulation any thought. The HVAC tech told me the heating and air conditioning was working well. He didn’t notice that through the use of use temperature gun, we had several areas of the house where we had air leaks. Our air conditioning was leaking out and the cold air was making its way into the house. He said we had to call a contractor and have the insulation updated. We also needed to have some weatherstripping or caulking done around the windows and doors. He thought this would solve our HVAC problems.
